Mary Beard

Mary Ann Hair Beard, 88, of Fayetteville NC, died Tuesday, January 7, 2014, at Carolina Regional Rehab Center.

Mary was born to Duncan Jay and Lizzie Dorman Parker Hair on January 8, 1926. She married Albert Grey Beard, October 11, 1941.

She was a homemaker and reared 9 children, 5 boys and 4 girls. She worked out of the home as a Nurse's Aide at High Smith Rainey Hospital for a short time. After her children grew up, she took care of other people's children for about 5 years.

Mary loved God and her church. She sang special songs with her husband who played the guitar. She has attended Breezewood Church since 1952 and has blessed many people with her soft voice and sweet disposition.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Pinecrest Funeral Services on Dunrobin Drive, Hope Mills, NC.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 10, 2014 at 2 pm at Breezewood Church with Dr. Bill Vines officiating. Burial will follow at Cumberland Memorial Gardens on Raeford Road, Fayetteville, NC.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a daughter, Janet McLamb; 2 sisters, Sarah Moore and Beatrice Stewart; and two brothers, James Hair and Bascom Parker.

She is survived by three daughters, Marie B. Russ, Barbara B. Fell (David), Kathy B. Bass (Norman) and 5 sons, Gerald (Chris), Bobby (Kay), Arnold (Deana), Donnie (Debbie), Michael (Debbie Jo) and 26 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren.

She had many special friends that filled her life with joy and love.

She will be missed greatly by all who knew her but she is at rest and pain free in her heavenly home.
