Mary Arnette Cooper, 77 of Red Springs, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2024.
Born March 1, 1947 in Cumberland County, Mary was the daughter of the late David Cooper and Eleanora Bunce Cooper. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by three brothers, David Cooper, Jr., Gary "Sammy" Cooper, and Charlie Cooper; and two sisters, Patty Ivey and Barbara Kingman.
Mary is survived by her son, Benny Dembo and wife Pyong; daughter, Donna Dembo; daughter, Mary Cummings and husband Nakia; son, Martin Zahnd and wife Mary; three brothers, John Cooper and wife Debbie, Tommy Cooper and wife Doris, and Michael Cooper and wife Tammie; three sisters, Dorothy Chilton and husband Gary, Elaine Morgan, and Vickie Thompson; six grandchildren, Eva, Eleanor, Adriana, Joe, Julie, and Jenny; two great-grandchildren, Emmanuel and Elijah; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.
Mary was a beautiful soul who could brighten any room she entered. She was a person who enjoyed the simpler things in life. She loved to dance and loved being with her family whenever possible, especially her granddaughters.
Mary will be remembered as a loving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She will be greatly missed and forever cherished by everyone who knew and loved her.
