Matthew Lewis

Matthew Bryce Lewis, 29, of Hope Mills, passed away Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

He was born March 3, 1982, in Fort Sill, Okla., the son of Lawrence and the late Wendy Lewis. He attended Southview High School in Hope Mills.

Matt attended Green Springs Baptist Church. His hobbies included hockey, fishing, sports and crafts. He enjoyed spending time outdoors with his daughters.

Matthew is survived by his girlfriend of five years, Heather Walker; three daughters, Shelby Lewis, Kadence Walker and Ainsleigh Lewis; father, Larry Lewis and wife Patricia Lewis of Tyler,Texas; brothers, Michael Lewis of Hope Mills, Marcus Lewis of Hope Mills, and Andrew Tompkins of Tyler; sister, Ashlyn Tompkins of Tyler; grandparents, Burl and Ellen Woodard of Tyler; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Services will be held at Green Springs Baptist Church in Parkton on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011, at 1 p.m. A visitation will be held prior to the service from noon to 1 p.m.
