Wilma passed away peacefully on January 4, 2017 in the Moosehaven Life Care Center of Orange Park, Florida at the age of 78.
She was born on February 16, 1938 to parents Archie and Leola (Regan) Hair in Hoke County, North Carolina.
Wilma married James Arthur Chestnut on December 16, 1954 in Fayetteville, North Carolina. She was a loving wife, homemaker and mother. Wilma enjoyed playing Bingo, crafts, needlework, and reading. Wilma also enjoyed going to the beauty shop and spending time with her friends at Moosehaven.
Wilma served as a Past Grand Regent for the Women of the Moose.
She also served as Grand Regent in 2009-2010 and Junior Past Grand Regent in 2010-2011. Wilma Previously served as a Grand Council Member 1990-1992.
She joined the Women of the Moose Fayetteville, NC Chapter 1292 in 1966. Wilma served her Chapter as Guide, Secretary/Treasurer, Junior Regent, Junior Graduate Regent, Audit Chairman, Ritual Director, College of Regents Chairman, Star Recorder Chairman and PEP Chairman. She also holds membership in Shallotte, NC Chapter 1932. A member of the 50 Division of the Moose 25 Club, she achieved her Academy of Friendship Degree in 1969, College of Regents in 1973, and entered the Star Recorder Degree in 1982. At the state level, Wilma served North Carolina as Deputy Grand Regent in 1983-1984. She was a Mooseheart/Moosehaven Representative from 1985-1986.
Wilma joined the Moosehaven family on December 11, 2015 where she has resided for the past year.
She was preceded in death by her husband James on November 29, 2015 and is survived by sons, Robert Chestnut and his wife Jane of Ocracoke, North Carolina and James Chestnut of Oak Island, North Carolina; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Wilma will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
