Michael Smith

Michael Francis Smith, 64 of Hope Mills, passed away Saturday, September 4, 2021 in his home with family by his side.

Born July 9, 1957 in Robeson County, Michael was the son of Melba McRainey Smith and the late Ted Smith.

Along with his mother, Melba Willis, Michael is also survived by his wife, Ann Smith; daughter, Michele Heath, her husband David, and their son Jackson; son, Michael Smith and his wife Katie; brother, Duncan Smith and his partner David Loven; and a host of other extended family and friends.

Michael worked as a manager with the Department of Agriculture and was a die hard NC State fan. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

Through the wonderful gifts of blood donations, Michael was granted extra time to spend with his family and friends. It is for this reason that in lieu of flowers, the family requests one's own gift of  life or memorial contribution be made to the American Red Cross.
