Mildred Barefoot

Hope Mills, North Carolina

Mrs. Mildred Anne Barefoot, 84, of Hope Mills, died August 5, 2014 surrounded by family and friends.

She was born in Scotland County to Charlie and Mattie Beasley Riddle. She is preceded in death by her parents, and her husband of 62 years, Thomas Purdy Barefoot. She is also preceded in death by her son Larry Barefoot Starling, and a daughter Jeanette Johnson.

Mrs. Barefoot is survived by her daughters, Dee Callahan and husband Al of Parkton and Michelle Carter and husband Keith of Hope Mills; two sisters, Myra Parker and husband Weeks of Fayetteville, Carolyn Spivey of Stedman, and a brother Jerry Riddle and wife Bonnie of Texas; five grandchildren, Victoria Jackson, Sayla Merritt, Randy McLeod and wife Tracey, Kevin Lewis, all of Hope Mills and Curtis Starling Jr., and wife Tammy of Fayetteville; four great grandchildren, Jaydah Johnson, Ally McLeod, Annika Starling, and Ashley Starling. She is also survived by her son in law Pete Johnson of Cypress Lakes and best friend Liz Collins of Fayetteville.

Mrs. Barefoot had a great spirit and always found the good in everyone. She treated everyone equal and accepted them for who they were. She always put everyone first, especially her children. She loved working in the yard and with her flowers. She also loved dancing, cake decorating, and window shopping. Mrs. Barefoot's family always spent Thanksgiving and Christmas together which was very important to her. She had a mischievous side and a great sense of humor. She will be missed by all who loved and knew her.

A memorial service will held Friday, August 8th at 6pm. The family will receive friends immediately following the services. In lieu of flowers, you may bring your favorite finger foods for a time of celebration.
