Nancy May Reed, 56, of Hope Mills, passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2019 in Chapel Hill.
Born December 11, 1962 in Carrizozo, New Mexico, Nancy was the daughter of May Barnum Taylor and the late Luther Carlton Taylor. Though born in NM, Nancy would eventually make her way to NC, where she owned and operated Q and T Trucking Company for several years before working with MJ Soffe. She attended and became a devoted member of Harvest Baptist Church where her faith grew into a solid foundation. Being strong in her faith, Nancy would fight and win the battle against cancer, making her an inspiration to all. Wherever she went, Nancy never met a stranger. She loved spending time with her family and friends, and was always considered the life of the party. In her spare time, she enjoyed planting flowers, cacti, and other succulents, and loved doing puzzles and taking on creative projects for her home and garden.
Along with her father, she was preceded in death by her son, Robert Lee Reed; brother, Teddy Paxton; and sister, Iva Rising.
She survived by her son, Ricky Lee Taylor; mother, May Taylor McLaurin and her husband Lester (Mac) McLaurin; brother, Jerome Paxton and his wife Christina; brother, Carlton Taylor and his wife Kelly; sister, Veronica Benedict and her husband Thomas; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family members and friends.
A loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, Nancy May Reed will always be remembered as a protector, provider, and mentor to all. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
