Nelia Towery

Nelia Bennett Towery, 66, of Fayetteville, died Friday, August 5, 2016 in her home surrounded by family.

Born on July 10, 1950, in Bladen County, Mrs. Towery was the daughter of the late Cary Henry and Ethel Poston Bennett.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Johnny Bennett; sisters-in-law, Vickie Bennett and Maggie Bennett; and great grandson, Coda Wakefield.

Mrs. Towery is survived by her husband of 49 years, David Towery; daughter, Sherry Bunnell and husband Carl; son, Jeff Towery; sisters, Doris Bennett, Alice Slade, and Diane Richardson and husband Wayne; brothers, Joe Bennett, and Henry Bennett and wife Elaine; grandchildren, Chris Towery and companion Fonda, Erin Wakefield and husband Justin, Stephen Towery and wife Tanya, Danielle Norton and husband Ray, Dustin Guinn, and Kimberley Towery; great grandchildren, Miranda Towery, Cadence Wakefield, Cyrus Wakefield, and Nolan Towery; numerous step grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.

She loved to cook for her family and others, enjoyed shopping for the best deals around town, and cherished the times spent with family and friends. She will be remembered as a special "Grandma" to the children of the daycare where her daughter Sherry was employed.

Mrs. Towery will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
