Paul Edward Rogers, 82, died at his home Thursday evening, January 3, 2013, with his family by his side.
He was born in Sumter, SC on February 14, 1930 to the late Lattie M. and Edith Mullenax Rogers.
Paul was a 1949 Football Hall of Famer at Western Carolina University. He was a veteran of the Korean War. As an educator he retired as a Cumberland County School principal at Elizabeth Cashwell School. Hobbies included hunting, fishing, and collecting, repairing and just messing with old phonographs.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by siblings, Roe Rogers, James Rogers, John Rogers, Ella Mae Cruse and Fred Rogers.
Those left to mourn his passing include his wife, Barbara Rogers of the home; daughter, Lucy Kempf of Hope Mills; sister Mary Brawley and brother Joe Rogers both of Mooresville, NC.
Visitation will be Monday, January 7, 2013 from 1:00-2:00 PM at Pinecrest Funeral and Cremation Services. Funeral services will follow the visitation at the Pinecrest Chapel.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Western Carolina University Athletic Department , 92 Catamount Road, Cullowhee, North Carolina 28723, in memory of Paul Rogers, class of 1952.
