Peggy I. Spencer (Memaw), 67, passed away in her home, surrounded by her family on February 11, 2018.
Captain Spencer retired in 2016 as Assistant Deputy Chief Jailer with the Cumberland County Sheriff's Department after 28 years of service.
Born December 29, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Edna Hulon of Hope Mills. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Spencer; sister, Deborah Wilkes; and brother, Leon Hulon, all of Hope Mills.
Peggy leaves behind her beloved children, Craig Jackson of Hope Mills, Denise Hayes and husband Charles of Hope Mills, Tim Jackson and wife Melina of Suffolk, VA, Tara Jackson and husband Carlos of Fayetteville, and Bryan Spencer and wife Rebecca of Fayetteville; a special nephew, Scottie Horne of Fayetteville; ten grandchildren; Amanda Jackson, Stephen Jackson and Brandy, Melanie Hayes, Ashlyn Hayes and Nate, Jayne Logan Spencer, Lily Jackson, Alex Jaramillo, Caleb Spencer, Sara Jackson, and Elizabeth Jackson; and two great grandchildren; Kyleigh and Madelynn Jackson.
Peggy will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
