Robert Larry “Bob” Brock, age 72, passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at home in San Antonio, Texas surrounded by his family.
Bob was born to Mary and Carlie Brock on March 16, 1951, in the Grays Creek community of Cumberland County, North Carolina. His maternal grandparents, Bob and Beatrice Bramble, lived across the road. Bob graduated from Grays Creek High School in 1969 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Bob had a gift of understanding mechanical concepts and could fix anything. He spent six years serving in the Navy and was stationed around the world, including tours in Italy, Spain, Norfolk, Virginia, and Pensacola and Jacksonville Florida. Bob trained on the USS Lexington and served on the USS Independence.
After honorably completing his military service, Bob created a lifelong career in sales and management centering around his passion for people, business, and personal development. He was a loving father and a doting grandfather, always making time to see his grandchildren doing their favorite activities. Bob enjoyed playing music, driving, restoring and fixing antique and performance cars, reading, cracking jokes, and spending time on the water and at the beach with friends and family.
Bob was preceded in death by, parents, Carlie Brock, and Mary Brock, grandparents Bob and Beatrice Bramble. Bob is survived by loving wife of 48 years, Joi Slaydon Brock; daughter, Angie Gurno and husband Thomas; son, Daniel Brock and wife Crysta; and daughter, Becky Aranibar and husband, Carlo; sisters, Glenda Tyler (Jimmy), Mary Catherine Thomas (Barry), Vickie Cherry (Noel), Janice Bass (Dan); brother, Harrell Brock (Rebecca); grandchildren, Emma and Ella Gurno, D.W. and Hanna Brock, Levi, Cora, and Roman Aranibar; along with a host of lifelong friends, classmates, and shipmates.
