Robert Johnson

Hope Mills - Robert "Bob" Johnson, 84 of Hope Mills went home to be with his Lord after a courageous battle with Pancreatic cancer on Sunday, March 17, 2013.

The Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at Cotton United Methodist Church at 4514 Mill Street in Hope Mills, North Carolina led by Dr. Michael Hale. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 pm prior to the service at the church. At other times the family will receive friends at 4616 Cameron Road, Hope Mills.

Bob was a retired plant manager with Thomason Inc. in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He was a life long member of Cotton United Methodist Church where he held various church offices. He was also the Men's Sunday School Teacher for many years. He loved life and all the activities that go with living the good, well lived life. He didn't watch life, he experienced life to the fullest.

He was born at his home in Hope Mills on August 22, 1928, to the late Paul & Lena Johnson.

He graduated from Hope Mills High School in 1947. After graduation, he served in the US. Navy, until 1949. He married the love of his life, Merle Faircloth on November 11, 1950.

Bob was preceeded in death by his parent; brothers Jimmy & Dwain; sister Marie Mills and son Robert Johnson Jr.

He is survived by his wife of 62 plus years, Merle; daughter Paulette McLean & husband Al; son Danny & wife Cindy; grandchildren Trey McLean & wife Tanya, Brandon McLean & wife Beth, Daniel Johnson & wife Brittany, Bobby Johnson & fiancé Michelle O'Donnell, & Zachary Johnson; great grandchildren Grace McLean, Ashton Johnson & soon to be born great granddaughter Ellayna. Also survived by brothers; Stanley, Allen & Joe Johnson and sister Betty Madison. Also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, brothers & sisters in Christ.

In lieu of flowers , the family is requesting donations be made to the Cotton United Church, Hope Mills.
