Robert (Bob) W. Seely died Monday November 29, 2010 at Duke University Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of the late Mack and Edythe Seely. Bob was born in 1938 in West Palm Beach, Florida but spent most of his formative years with his family in Asheville, North Carolina. He enjoyed summer vacations with his grandmother in their mountain cabin, Treetops, in Balsam, NC.
He was a 1961 graduate of Clemson A & M College (Clemson University) with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was an accomplished engineer who helped design and implement many projects for several corporations in the Southeast throughout his lifetime. Bob retired from Black and Decker in 2008.
He was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church and served in many capacities over the years ranging from singing in the choir to being a youth leader. He was very active in the Hope Mills United Methodist Church for the last 15 years while remaining a member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church in Savannah, Ga.
In his retirement Bob enjoyed working outside in his yard and following the exploits of his Clemson Tigers. Bob is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-four years, Nancy, as well as two daughters, Pam Seely and Dr. Robin Salter and her husband Armin Salter of Fayetteville. Bob is also survived by his two grandchildren, Rachel and Robert (Roby) Salter, one sister, Patricia Buckner of Surf Side Beach, South Carolina and several nieces and a nephew.
