Robert Taylor

Robert Taylor, age 79, of Hope Mills, N.C., passed away Wednesday, September 3, 2014, at his home.
He was born February 12, 1935, in Robeson County, to Christine Callahan. After serving in the U.S. Army, he enjoyed a long career as a mechanic, and worked at Winn-Dixie, Texfi, and retired from Cumberland County as Supervisor Electrical and Mechanical Department.

He is preceded in death by Christine and Bernice Callahan, and Robert and Lelear Taylor; a sister, Mary Jo Strickland; a sister, Helen Callahan; and a brother, Buck Taylor.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Florence Whitehead Taylor of Hope Mills; a son, Robert C. Taylor; daughter, Linda Housand; daughter Lori Herring and son-in-law Billy Herring; daughter, Carolyn McGuire and son-in-law Scott McGuire. Grandchildren, Courtney Pruitt, Cori Herring, Tabitha Herring, Alexis Turner, and Regan McGuire; one grandson, Austin McGuire, and great-grandson, Benjamin Taylor Pruitt. His family includes a sister and brother-in-law, Jean Dale and Gerald Britt; a sister Betty Lou Vernon; his brother and sister-in-law, Mack D and Brenda Merle Walters. He was loved by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, and leaves behind many dear friends. He will be remembered for his Day Lilly garden and the beautiful dulcimers he made by hand.
