Royce Milton Pope, 90 of Lumber Bridge, passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at the NC State Veterans Nursing Home in Fayetteville.

Born October 18, 1932 in Sampson County, Royce was the son of the late David G. Pope and Mattalene R. Pope. He was also preceded in death by his former wife, Hilda P. Pope; brother, David R. Pope; and sister, Esteen P. Jackson.

Royce is survived by his wife, Rosa Ivory of Lumber Bridge; son, Rick Pope and wife Nancy of Raeford; son, Scott Pope and wife Donna of Fayetteville; grandson, Grayson Pope of Fayetteville; stepson, Bill Ivory of Newport, TN; stepson, John Ivory of Mesa, AZ; and a host of other family and friends.

Royce honorably served over 22 years in the US Army before retiring in 1975. During his military career, he achieved the rank of Sergeant First Class and received numerous awards and medals.

He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
