Sadie Jackson

Sadie Cunningham Jackson received the gift of life on November 22, 1933 and the gift of eternal life on Wednesday, May 14, 2014.

She was born in Humboldt, Tennessee. She is preceded in death by her parents, Coatney Sylvester Birmingham and Willie Mae Nelson Birmingham.

She is survived by three sons, Danny and wife Laurel of Fayetteville, Bobby Joe Cunningham of Moline Illinois, and Edwin Jackson of Hope Mills; a brother, Robert Birmingham and wife Mary of Jackson, Florida; and one grandchild, Coatney Cunningham of Portland Oregon.

Sadie has been involved in scouting since 1962. She held many District positions to include but not limited to; District Commissioner, Member-at-Large, Program Chairman, Activities Chairman, and Training Chairman for District and Council.

Her passion for scouting was ALWAYS for the youth. She especially enjoyed being a Den Leader and working with the younger boys. She was also Cubmaster and a Scout Trainer. She always lent a helping hand anyway she could. She loved camping on the weekends and found peace and solitude walking all the trails. She was involved with Pack 742 as a Committee Chairman and Den Leader.

She started Pack 716 Friendship Baptist Church. She has been a member of Venture Crew 711 for the last 10 years. She has held the positions of Committee Chairman, Charter Organization Representative, Associate Advisor and Trainer.

The family will receive friends at Friendship Baptist Church, 3232 Davis St in Hope Mills on Saturday, May 17th from 1 - 2pm. A funeral celebration will be held in the sanctuary immediately after the viewing and a graveside burial will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park West.
