Samuel Cain

Samuel Robert (Sam) Cain, 73 of Grays Creek passed away Saturday, January 28, 2017 in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Sam served 2 years in the 82nd Airborne and retired from the NC State Forestry Service as equipment supervisor. He was also a member of the Lumber River Old Iron Tractor Club in Lumberton and a member of Roger's Barn Gang in Grays Creek.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion F. Cain and Sallie Boyd Cain, brothers Frank, Terry and Don Cain and sister, Cathy Cain Atkinson.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Young Cain of the home; brothers, Boyd (Corena) Cain, Jack Cain and Harry Cain of Grays Creek; sisters, Marian (Donald) Canady of Myrtle Beach, SC and Jewell Bryant of Falcon, NC; step-children, Jimmie Lou Morris (Mel), Jamie (Retha) Morris, Leroy Morris (Diane) of Grays Creek, Shelia Morris Dennis (William), Southport, NC; step-grandchildren, Christin (Eric) O'Branovich, Jamie (Josh) Britt, Aaron Morris (Taylor) of Grays Creek, Samantha (Chris) Pruitt of Hope Mills, Justin Morris of Raleigh, NC, Christopher Freeman (Kelly) of Cedar Point, NC and Rebecca Morris (Bobby) of Supply, NC; step-great grandchildren, Logan, Tyler, Austin, Cambria, Hunner, Hudson and Easton; and a special step-daughter from a previous marriage, Amanda (Aubrey) Belanger and sons, Blaze and Axel; and several nieces and nephews.

He attended Mount Pisgah Baptist Church when he could and was a friend to all and was loved by all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mount Pisgah Baptist Church "Building and Grounds Fund" in memory of "Sam Cain".
