Sheila Ann Grinnell, daughter of Joan F. Tates and John D. Griffin, was born on January 23, 1955 in Baltimore, Maryland. She departed this life on July 22, 2021, she was sixty-six years old.
Sheila was educated in the Baltimore City School System and graduated from Lake Clifton High School. She attended Morgan State University, before working for the Department of the Army for 36 years.
Sheila enjoyed traveling and spending time with friends and family. As a military spouse, Sheila was a devoted mother to her three daughters, making sure new experiences and possibilities were welcomed, and every new location was home.
Sheila was a friend to many, her kind spirit, outgoing personality and sense of humor ensured that she made numerous friends wherever she went. She was a mother figure to some, always ready with open arms to be a listening ear or help in any way she could.
She was a regular bowler in her heyday, and an avid fan of the University of Michigan Wolverines football team.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Charles Grinnell; three daughters, Monique Grinnell, Carla Grinnell and Whitney Grinnell; seven grandchildren, Sanaa Grinnell, Laith Grinnell, Tate Allen, Griffin Grinnell-Friel, Kalel Wallace, McKenna Allen, and Bennett Grinnell-Friel; a brother, Robert Tates; dear friend, Zanjala Miller; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and dear friends.
