Shelby Duncan Smith, age 86, gained her wings at home with her family by her side. She is now resting in her Heavenly home.
Born in Bladenboro, NC, she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Annie Pearl Duncan. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Smith and sisters, Joyce Harrell and Fran Veale.
She left behind "3 munchkins" McRay Carroll, Mary Gause (Johnnie), Michael "Tony" Smith (Rhonda); grands, Shane Langley (Jaimie), Keri-Ana Bartley (Jordan), Andrew DiCicco and T. J. "Bones" Smith; and her adorable great-grand, Jacey Bartley.
She graduated from Selena Business College in 1965 with a business degree. She worked at Converse for many years. After moving to Fayetteville, she began working at Black & Decker as a machinist, and remained there until they closed. Oh, how she loved that job and her Black & Decker family.
Shelby loved to cook for an army, bake cakes of any kind, make jewelry, and she loved all types of crafting. She had a few hobbies that she enjoyed with her sis, Frannie Farkle (her bestie). She also loved to bowl and was on several bowling leagues for many years. She was a beloved member of the "Chew Crew" which consisted of regular meet-ups for lunch and fellowship among friends. She loved her Chew Crew, and Ms. Helen (her BFF), very much.
Shelby loved doing for others and making them happy. She was an angel on Earth; now she is an angel in heaven.
We love you Mother Dear! Watch over us, until we meet again. Fly high our precious Angel. We love you, Clyde, Mary Jo & Tony.
