Shirley Thomas Patrick

  Beloved wife, mother, and grandmother Shirley Marie Thomas Patrick, age 79, joined her Lord and Savior in Heaven on Thursday, October 24, 2024. Her daughter Angela was at her side when she entered eternity to join her sisters and brothers waiting to welcome her.

  Shirley is survived by the love of her life and husband Robert “Doc” Patrick, her only daughter Angela (Jeff), her only grandson Robert (Autumn), and her only great-granddaughter Hunter Elisabeth. She was quick to tell anyone, “We are a family of only’s…our circle is small, but it’s strong.”

  Born in Louisville, Kentucky, Shirley moved to North Carolina when Doc promised to buy her a house. He did, and she and their daughter moved to Fayetteville. As a military wife, Shirley took her duty assignment very seriously. She hosted parties, cooked numerous meals, and planned a variety of events. Her home was always open and anyone was welcome at her table where she believed when food is shared, there is always plenty. Many would be surprised to know, she considered herself an introvert. However, she made up for that with silly quips and comments, shortening a person’s name to a nickname, and asking genuine questions to get to know people. That genuineness drew people to her. She simply radiated energy, joy, and friendliness when she entered a room. She loved Family Dinners with her “only’s” around the table and sharing a meal together. She loved to sit on her patio with a cup of coffee with Doc for bible study and prayer.

  Shirley loved Jesus and her family. She wanted everyone to know her Jesus and to hear about her family whom she adored and cherished, especially her great-granddaughter Hunter. 

  While our hearts are broken, we know we will all be together again. For now, she is rejoicing in Heaven, sitting on a bench under the Tree of Life seeing what we can only imagine, and would ask you if she could, “Do you know my Jesus?”

  A memorial service will be held Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at Pinecrest Funeral and Cremation Services, 4721 Dunrobin Drive, Hope Mills, NC 28348. Visitation will be at 9:30 am and the service will begin at 11:00 am. 

  The family will have a Fellowship Celebration following the service at Doc and Shirley’s home at 6958 Timbercroft Lane, Fayetteville, NC 28314.
