Shirley Mae Smith, 74, of 4600 Cumberland Road (Carolina Rehabilitation Center), Fayetteville, NC, died Monday, March 10, 2014.

She was born September 8, 1939 in Cumberland County, NC.

Preceded in death were her late husband Lester Ray Smith and son Roy Louis Smith. Also preceded in death were her parents Henry David Ivey and Normie Mae Pittman of Hope Mills.

Surviving are her sons, Danny Ray and wife Elizabeth Phillips Smith, Neelis Jay and wife Michelle Cashwell Smith, James Glenn Smith, and John Raymond and wife Lisa Thorne Smith all of Hope Mills; daughter, Trudy and husband Tom Whiting of Charlotte, Tennesee; sisters, Doris Tyndall of Wade, and Wilma (Monk) Delorme of Hope Mills; brother, David (Buck) Ivey of Fayetteville; eleven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held, Thursday, March 13, at 2:00 p.m. in Pinecrest Funeral & Cremation Services Chapel in Hope Mills conducted by the Reverends Tim Gore and Brian Kinlaw. Entombment will be in Cumberland Memorial Gardens Mausoleum on Raeford Road in Fayetteville. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Shirley was loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
