Thomas Barefoot

Mr. Thomas Barefoot, 82, of Hope Mills, died October 14, 2013, at First Health Moore Regional Hospital.

Born in Cumberland County, he is the son of the late William Purdy Barefoot and Lila Hair Barefoot. He is preceded in death by his parents, a son, Larry Starling of Hope Mills a sister Mildred Beard of Florida and a brother, William Lester Barefoot.

He is survived by his loving wife Mildred Barefoot of 62 years; three daughters, Dee Callahan and husband Al of Parkton, Jeanette Johnson and husband Pete of Hope Mills, and Michelle Carter of Hope Mills; two brothers, Bill Barefoot and wife Alice of Fayetteville, Jerry Barefoot and wife JoAnn of Smithfield; five grandchildren, Curtis Starling Jr. and wife Tammy, Randy McLeod and wife Tracey, Kevin Lewis, Victoria Jackson and Sayla Merritt all of Hope Mils; and four great great-grandchildren, Annika and Ashley Starling, Ally McLeod and Jaydah Johnson.

Mr. Barefoot was a loving father and enjoyed working and providing for his family. He took pride in his career as a crane operator and was a perfectionist. His greatest achievement in life was teaching his children to be responsible and take care of what they had. He was a man of strength and courage. His family never had to doubt his love and support. He will be missed by all who loved and knew him.
