William Battle, Sr.

William Henry Battle, Sr., 87, of Red Springs, passed away Thursday, February 21, 2019 surrounded by family.

Born August 25, 1931 in Cumberland County, NC. William was the son of the late Lodis and Susie Battle. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Marvin, Linda, and Edna.

William served for over three years in the U.S. Navy on the USS Rich, and was a veteran of the Korean War. After his military service, he eventually went on to work at the Coca-Cola Bottling Company for over 39 years before retiring as a Cold Bottle Manager in September of 1993.

William is survived by his wife, Shirley Davis Battle; daughter, Donna Hannon and husband Ronald of Charleston, SC; son, William H. Battle, Jr. of Eastover, NC; daughter, Connie Brown and husband Joel of Chesapeake, VA; daughter, Tammy Haynie and husband Stanley of Cleveland, GA; daughter, Deborah Harrelson and husband Dave of Panama City Beach, FL; daughter, Shirley Dietrich and husband John of Stedman, NC; eleven grandchildren, Nikki, Natasha, April, Heather, Christopher, Christina, Tiffany, Kyra, Ian, Scotty, and Billy; sixteen great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and a host of other family members and friends.

He will greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
