William Southerland

Retired Army SFC William George Southerland Sr., sunrise March 10, 1929 in Greenville, SC., went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, November 1, 2014 at the age of 85.

He is preceded in death by his father Joseph Amos Southerland; mother, Bessie Lee Lambeth; sister, Kathy "Cat" Southerland; grandmother, Martha Southerland; and uncle, Hasque Southerland.

He is survived by his bride of 62 years, Janice Eleanor Singletary Southerland; daughter, Rhonda Southerland Toft and husband William "Bill" of Greensboro, NC; sons, William George Southerland, Jr. of Fayetteville and Joseph Clayton Southerland and wife Audrey Twomey of Hope Mills; grandchildren, Austin Charles Toft and wife Kristy of Lynchburg, Va, Aaron Christopher Toft of Greensboro, NC, Christina Marie Ball and husband Jeffery of Fayetteville, and Christopher Ramsey Southerland of Stephenville, TX; great-grandchildren, Lincoln, Mason, Silas, Johnny, and Elliot; brother, Harold Southerland and wife Susan of Davenport, Fl; sister, Mary Jo Connor of SC.

Mr. Southerland was a retired US Army Ranger with the 82nd Air Division. He was also retired from Cargill Incorporated in Fayetteville, NC.
