Yvonne Sprangers

Yvonne Sprangers, 85, a prominent member of the Grays Creek community was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven on Tuesday, April 25, 2017. She passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness.

Yvonne was born on December 10, 1931, in East Java, Indonesia to Willem Esser and Johanna (Deeders). She married the love of her life Cornell Sprangers on July 17, 1951, in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

She is survived by her daughter Yvonne and son in law Dave Nolan of Grays Creek. Grandchildren, Christopher, Jillian (Peo) and great-granddaughter Samantha, Jason and Desiree (Lapre), and great-grandson Andrew. Her son Glenn, daughter in law Gail (Murphy) of Billerica, MA. Grandchildren, Eric and Jessica (Lankenau), and great-grandson Myles, Jessica and Dan Smith, great granddaughter Alexis. Her youngest son C. Anton and daughter in law Candise (Tom) of Centennial, CO., Grandchildren, Jennifer and Adam Moeller and great grandson Jackson, great-granddaughter Jordan Rose, and granddaughters Carolyn and Kimberly Sprangers.

Yvonne was a retired bookkeeper, a gourmet Indonesian chef, master seamstress and an avid gardener. These skills were invaluable in providing her family the best of amenities in the adventurous and ever-changing life they had chosen. In 1960, she led her family to the greatest country on earth, America, to achieve the American dream. They first arrived in Pittsburgh PA, then Massachusetts, Zachary LA, and finally Grays Creek, NC. Because of Yvonne's selfless dedication, love of Christ and love of America, her family continues to successfully weave a web of success throughout the country and her legacy is thriving.

Yvonne's greatest success in life was building a Christian life and setting an example to all through the love she shared with her husband Cornell. She was known for her caring, generosity, and her ability to make lasting friendships. Yvonne actively worshipped at Marvin United Methodist Church in Grays Creek, NC and volunteered regularly at the Grays Creek Christian Center. Visitation with the family will be held at Marvin United Methodist Church and will be announced at a future date.
